A theme park built on the site of the old Crown Mine Shaft No. 14, Gold Reef City reflects the story of the discovery of the gold and those mined it. The real life adventure allows you to learn and experience gold mining history in the authentic method.

LION AND RHINO PARK (Entrance Included)

A unique opportunity for a close encounter with the majestic lions of South Africa. Over 80 lions to see from the cutest cubs to our magnificent white male lions. See other indigenous game including spotted hyena, caracal, wild do, cheetah, zebra and many more.

This prime game reserve plays host to lions, cheetahs, rhinos, hippopotamus, buffalos, crocodiles, wild dogs and many other conceivable African wild animals and birds, and is situated in Magallies area. The visitors will get opportunity to play with white lion cubs at The Animal crèche. Escorted walking trails and guided 4x4 tours are available.

STERKFONTEIN CAVES AND MAROPENG MUSEUM (Entrance Included)

Visitors have to take a mineshaft, 40 metres down into the earth to reach the Sterkfontein Cave - an enormous single chamber, decorated by some 15m high rock formations. The cave is 2,200 million years old and formations include rim stone pools, caves pearls, stalactites, stalagmites, and famous "Madonna" carved by nature into the rock.

The new scientific exhibition centre showcases a reconstruction of a mined cave - versus a pristine cave - cave formations and geology, early life forms, mammals and hominid fossils, among other topics. It described in detail important finds such as "Mrs Ples", the "Taung Child" and "Little Foot", as well as providing information about fossilisation, palaeobotany and landscapes. World-acclaimed and award-winning palaeoartist, John Gurche, whose exhibits can be seen at the Smithsonian Institute, the Field Museum and the American Museum of Natural History in New York and who worked on the film Jurassic Park, has produced all the lifelike hominid illustrations, from the 7-million year old Toumai fossil from Chad, through the modern humans.

Established as small farming town in 1855 by its founder, Martinus Pretorius, Pretoria stated to serve as a capital of Zuid Afrikaansche Republiek and residency of President Paul Kruger since 1855.
